| | Hi I was diagnosed as a baby, when I was 14 I was tried on a normal diet and after a year with no symptoms, was fine and continued un be known to me and family I shold have stayed on the gf diet. I am now 34 and have had symptoms over the last few months and also after a blood test I now have a b12 vitamin defiency so have had to have 6 injections over the last 2 weeks. The blood test came back positive for coeliac. I have now begun a gluten free diet over 3 weeks ago. When do you start to feel less tired? Thanks Christine |

| | Hi Christine, welcome back as a Coeliac. There are many out there who are diagnosed CD as a youngster and for some reason it disappears yet returns and very often with a vengence. You do not mention on your post if you have had any biopsies by endoscopy etc. Once diagnosed by the system you will be entitled to a certain amount of food on prescription and there is a lot to choose from. You need to see a dietician and have a Dexa scan. I was diagnosed by the age of seven, biopsied at twelve and weaned onto normal food and my CD etc returned after 45 years, only in June 2007. It does appear that it runs on my fathers side of the family with my elder sister currently being tested. There is a lot of information out there, vigilance on your diet is important to keep you healthy as possible. good luck |

| | Hi Jack I have been to the consultant at the hospital today and I have been booked in for an endoscopy on the 26th feb.. I mentioned a bone scan aswell so they are also doing that. It hasnt been too bad going back on the gluten free diet at least there is more choice now than when I was little. Christine |

| Hello Christine,
I think you need to be eating gluten till after your endoscopy.

| | Hi christine, it is important that you continue a normal diet which means EAT GLUTEN, DRINK GLUTEN to get the best result, When you have the endoscopy be sedated, experience dictates. |

| | HI Because I was a coeliac as a child till I was 15 the consultant has advised me to stay on the gluten free diet asap, I think he is doing the endoscopy to be on the safe side and also to make sure that there is no long term damage. He was insistent that I remain on the gf diet. Will find out on the 26th feb anyway. I have felt better not as blotaed but very teary and fed up.. Especially shopping trips and eating out is also great fun. Christine |
