Our daughter is coming up to 4 years of age as a newly diagnosed coeliac (hence the pet name of the userid!). We, as parents are educating ourselves wtih a view to reading labels etc and referencing where necessary. Unfortunately we can't find anywhere that states whether whey solids or any derivatives of whey are allowed. Can you help us please?

Whey is from milk -which does not contain gluten, so, unless you have lactose intolerance, you are safe to eat whey.

Hi there and welcome to the forum,

That's new one on me.  Unfortunately I'm long past the lollipop stage.

If there is no allergen warning on the packet, I would refer to the Coelaic UK Food and Drink Directory and failing that I would give the dieticians at Coeliac UK ( Nicky and Norma) a call.

I have been known to telephone manufacturers directly for information!

I work on the basis of if in doubt leave it out.

Sorry I can't be of more help but all the best to Lollipop.
